Microsoft is ready for Windows 10 testers to start using Edge browser extensions. After an extended wait for the beta feature, Microsoft is releasing Windows 10 build 14291 today with browser extensions support for Edge. Microsoft will offer three extensions to test, including Microsoft Translator, a Reddit extension, and Mouse Gestures. Each extension can be manually installed, and because of the way Microsoft has crafted its extensions support they can also be installed in Google Chrome. Microsoft has chosen to make it easier for developers to port their Chrome extensions over to Edge. While the software maker is only releasing three basic extensions today, developers will be able to create their own extensions easily. "We’re participating in the W3C Browser Extension Community Group’s efforts to define standardized extension APIs based on familiar web technologies," says a Microsoft spokesperson. "Today, we’re previewing our first step towards that goal....

Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 is currently an imperfect experience for powerusers and those who rely on more than the basics. Its fast and looks spartan,  but it is missing common features like extensions and has a rude habit of eating up your RAM. At least one of those issues might be resolved soon if there is any truth to this new report. Thurrott’s Brad Sams and WinBeta’s Zac Bowden report that according to internal sources, Microsoft has rolled up the Edge extensions feature into the internal RS1 builds, which points towards an imminent release. It is expected that the next bold of Redstone will in fact bring in extensions, a feature that has been missing from Microsoft’s Edge browser since it was launched. If you are new to Windows 10 and the Microsoft Edge browser, here is a useful tip to help you automatically clear your browsing history every time you exit the browser. All you have to do is enable one setting. Here’s what you need to do. Simply launch Microsoft Edge and click the settings button (three dots) located at the top-right of the screen. Tap or click on Settings and you will be shown the settings menu. Tap or click on “Choose what to clear” under Clear browsing data. Select the option to clear your browsing history (and cookies or cache files if you so choose). Enable the option to “always clear this when I close the browser.” Now every time you exit the browser, you can have your history erased automatically. You can also choose to automatically clear your browser cache or erase your cookies upon exit. Please note, in order to use this feature, you will need to be running Windows 10 build 14267 or higher.

Users on Windows 10 now has one less reason to use resource hog Chrome browser. WhatsApp web now works on Microsoft Edge or IE browsers. Microsoft earlier reveals that they are working with WhatsApp team to bring Edge support for WhatsApp Web service. WhatsApp web is a service which sync your WhatsApp msgs from your device to your browser & you can chat with comfort from your browser when you are away form your mobile device or working on PC. All you need to do is – open WhatsApp on phone, go to “WhatsApp Web”, from the menu & scan the QR code displayed on your browser . Better late than never, it is good to see the service is now fully supported on Microsoft’s modern browser. Hopefully we’ll see more going forward this year .
