Latest Windows 10 TP Build 10581 is out now on Fast Ring..

Bug Fixes And Known Issues In Windows 10 Mobile Build 10581 Microsoft today announced Windows 10 Mobile Build 10581 to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. This build release does not include any new features. But it includes number of bug fixes. Read them below. Bug Fixes: *. For devices upgraded from Windows Phone 8.1 like the Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1520 that had the “Hey Cortana” feature – with this build “Hey Cortana” should work again in Windows 10. To make sure it’s turned on, just go to Settings > Extras > Hey Cortana. *. You can now select photos for sharing through third party apps like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Beta, WhatsApp etc. *. Battery life should be improved in this build. Lumia 950XL can beat the 1020 Beast ?

Image
Another click by 950xl For some the Lumia 1020 will always be the high point of photography on Windows phones, but it does not seem like Microsoft will be going in that direction ever again. Microsoft may even argue that today’s 20 megapixel camera is superior to the 41 megapixel monster from 2013. Looking at the above image, taken by Microsoft Mobile’s camera chief Juha Alakarhu, Microsoft may just be right. The close up macro image taken with the Lumia 950XL shows an amazing level of detail for a camera phone and while I am sure the skill of the photographer goes a long way to create such an image, the camera, which includes an F/1.9 aperture 1/2.4-inch sensor with Zeiss optics likely also helped a lot also. Are our readers who loved Lumia Windows Phones for the cameras convinced that the Lumia 950 XLis a worthy flag bearer? Let us know below.

Review of Windows 10 Mobile build 10549 tech preview

Image
Microsoft working hard on a way too long time to bring every possible things to make the Windows 10 on Mobile as a WOW factor to the world with features like Continuum, Universal Windows Apps (UWA), new camera algorithms and much more. Its been quite a long time since Microsoft announced the Windows 10 tech preview for Mobiles (Roughly 8 months so far). As we believe and Microsoft also said that they are now on final tuning stage of software development for Windows 10 mobile. Things are looking good now with the latest build, So here is what we noticed so far,       The Latest update felt better than any previous tech preview builds. Smoothness while handling apps and playing with the OS seems much more polished and fluid, It can be comparable with what we have used to with Windows Phone 8.1 now. Overheating problem is now solved at-least for me, phone felt little warmer while heavy usage but that's tolerable. It also reduces the rate of restarts and shutdowns which we fa

Microsoft removes android subsystem from the latest Build of Windows 10 Mobile!

Image
Despite all the advances of Windows 10 Mobile the feature which will likely do the most to increase availability of apps on the system is Project Astoria, which lets developers easily port their Android apps to Windows 10 Mobile, and which has also so far let users side-load Android apps to their handsets.   It seems however something has gone wrong with this important feature, as Microsoft has removed the subsystem in the latest 10549 Build of the OS. Interestingly the subsystem files are still present in the recently released emulator, which runs build 10563. However, keep in mind that Astoria may not be available in the next Windows 10 Mobile build either as Microsoft may not include the Android subsystem files on the next build, too. WindowsBlogItalia, who first reported the news, claims the reason for the removal was due to the Android subsystem slowly degrading Windows 10 Mobile, which is oddly fitting given the long-term concerns Windows phone fans have about introducing A

Lumia 550 now on pre-order from Amazon France for 129.90 Euro. AT&T Lumia 830 users REJOICE!

Image
The saying goes “better late than never”, Cynicism aside, AT&T has finally released the official Lumia Denim update for 830 owners. This update is the Windows 8.1 GDR 2 that announced a little over a year ago. This update, which weighs 540MB brings features like Rich Capture, and hands free interactions with Cortana (via AT&T /Windows Central). Untimely, updates can be headache for users, so Microsoft is determined to eliminate this issues with its next interaction of Windows. Microsoft has reaffirmed that they are working closing with carriers to ensure updates are delivered promptly, with Microsoft making the final decision as to when customers receive Windows updates. For those who do not want to wait, Microsoft also offers the Windows Insider program which allows customers to test unleashed Windows updates.       source: AT&T and Winbeta

Windows 10 Mobile finally brings DIVERSITY to the emoji.

Image
With the most recent Windows 10 Mobile build 10549 , Microsoft is pushing out quite a bit of improvements and features. Some are more subtle than others, but each new addition to Windows 10 Mobile is welcomed as we get closer to an official release. Among improvements to Cortana and the messaging app, Microsoft is finally adding diversity to its emoji’s. This change was announced in details back in May ,  and it is good to finally see Microsoft implement this change in its current build. Currently, Windows 10 Mobile uses gray emoji’s to represent generic figures whereas, in Windows 8.1, emoji’s were defaulted to yellow. With the new mobile build, users are able to press and hold an icon, and then choose the skin tone desired. Although, it may seem a simple thing creating diversity among emoji’s it means a great deal to many. As posted, this update does require users to roll back to WP8.1 , so be prepared to dedicate quite a bit of time for the update.       source: WinBeta

Windows 10 Mobile Build 10549 Let's see what's new and fixed

Image
Microsoft today released Windows 10 Mobile Build 10549 with a couple of new features to Windows Insiderson the fast ring. As usual, there are some expected bugs on this build — however, Microsoft has provided a list of known issues which is pretty helpful. Here are the known issues in build 10549: ¤ After upgrade, you might be missing a few apps. If you experience this, the workaround is to reset your phone. ¤ After rebooting your phone, you won’t see notifications, such as new messages, until you unlock your phone for the first time. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine. This bug is fixed in a later build. ¤ You will be unable to make calls with Skype for Business, WhatsApp and other apps after upgrading to this build. The workaround is to uninstall and reinstall these apps from the Store. Alongside the new features, Microsoft has also fixed a handful of bugs with this build, which are listed below: ¤ The Windows Camera app no longer crashes whe

You will have a new Windows 10 build on your Windows smartphone soon!

Gabe Aul: Microsoft currently has a good Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview candidate for release!  Its getting close to a month since the last Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview, Build 10536, which was released on the 14th September 2015.  In many ways this gap is usual, though Microsoft often professes the ambition to get builds out to Insiders faster.  The good news is that, according to Gabe Aul (the real one) the Windows 10 Mobile team is getting close to releasing a new build.  He writes: Being send out to Insiders is simply the last step in a series of internal tests, and I suspect if their latest test build is stable enough to be pushed out (the last was delayed due to a bug with the PC version) we should be seeing it by the middle of the week if not earlier.  Known new features is improvements to the People Hub Live Tile and a new web-based developer console which we look forward to testing.  Source: WMPoweruser

You can expect a new build of Windows 10 Mobile soon!

Image
Microsoft may have issued a new preview build of Windows 10 to insider program for PCs, but it looks like a build is coming close to your Windows Smartphone too. On reply to a fan on twitter, Windows Insider Head Gabe Aul said:  "Looking very good. We have a build that we've been stabilizing, doing final eval on it today/tomorrow." Of course, the Windows team could always find a bug that they feel would keep this Windows 10 Mobile Build from being released this week. However, this message from Aul looks encouraging. The last build was 10536, it was made available about a month ago on September 14. Source: WinCentral & Gabe on Twitter

MINT APP REMOVED FROM STORE.. BUT ONLY TO FIX BUGS

Image
The Mint app is one of those key cross platform apps in the Windows Store which gives Windows Phone users access to a variety of banking services even when their own bank does not support it. They have had an app in the Windows Store since 2013, though this app has not been updated particularly often. Over the weekend however we have had a number of tips from readers concerned that the app appears to have been removed from the Windows Store, meaning when users hard reset they are not able to re-install again. Fortunately this is not just another banking app that is fleeing the platform. According to Mint support the issue is just temporary, and related to the need for bug fixes for Windows 10. They write: I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with the Mint app for Windows 10, I understand your confusion. While the Windows 8 app did initially carry over to 10 without much issue, some bugs did come up that were breaking the experience for some users. Due to that, it has been taken out of

Microsoft updates Messaging app with new Skype Messaging feature for Windows 10 Mobile

Image
If you are running Windows 10 Mobile things just got a lot more interesting. The Microsoft Messaging app has been updated from 1.0.12715 to 1.10.7000. What's new? Just the ability to integrate Skype messaging.  Skype Messaging was in an early beta for users but now it looks like the feature is nearly complete as Microsoft has folded it into the official Messaging app for Windows 10 Mobile. This release is also newer than 1.0.12748 release of the Messaging Skype preview version bringing along with it a dark grey background (no longer black) and much improved performance (yes, it seems faster).  Likewise, Skype Video Preview is just called Skype Video now and should install along with the Messaging app update.  We'll be digging through the rest of the app to find if anything else is new. For now you can just head to the Store and check for an update or use the Store link below to grab it. You can also probably uninstall the preview version as that is now older than the

Pricing and Availability for the Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950XL

Image
Microsoft pulled the curtain back on their latest flagship Windows Phones today during the New York Event and while we have been eager to see the official specifications and design, we are equally as eager to know the pricing and availability.  The unlocked Microsoft Lumia 950, sporting the 5.2" screen, will be available from Microsoft Stores beginning in November from Microsoft and will cost $549.  The unlocked Microsoft Lumia 950XL, sporting the larger 5.7" screen, will also be available directly from Microsoft beginning in November from Microsoft. The cost of the 950XL will be $649.  Once we get a more specific date, we'll pass it on.  Keep in mind that these models will be unbranded and will lack any contractual discounts that providers may offer. We expect the AT&T versions of the 950 and 950XL to become available later in November and will pass on specifics when they become available. We will also pass on any information we receive from service prov

Windows 10 Mobile's official launch is set for December.

Image
Among the many hardware announcements today, fans were also eagerly waiting news about Windows 10 Mobile, and a likely release date. While Panos Panay and Terry Myserson disappointed users by not even bringing up the mobile OS, a Microsoft representative on Facebook has now confirmed that the official launch of Windows 10 Mobile is expected sometime in December.  In response to a query about when existing devices will be updated on one of the promo videos for the Microsoft Lumia 950 family, a Microsoft representative replied with the following:  Windows 10 is available on PCs and tablets now, and while Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL ship with Windows 10 for phones, broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December.  As we can see, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL will ship with a finished version of Windows 10, while other existing devices will have to wait till December. The post does not, however, give a set date for w

New Windows 10 Mobile Insider Build delayed due to "high crash rate"

Image
We are well into the 4th week after the last Windows 10 Mobile technical Preview Build, 10536.  Since then we have seen signs of a new build floating around, but nothing has been pushed out to the devices of Insiders yet.  Today Gabe Aul revealed that the wait will be just a bit longer, as their latest candidate has unfortunately failed to graduate.  Given that the current build is relatively stable I think our readers would probably prefer waiting over a buggy new build with only minor changes.  Keep your eyes on the site to be notified when the latest build does eventually ship.

Leaked Windows 10 Mobile Build screenshots reveals some changes

Image
While Windows Insiders are waiting for a new build supposedly  coming after  tomorrow’s event, screenshots of a new and yet unknown Windows 10 Mobile Build have leaked on Twitter. The screenshots reveals some changes that the build brings with itself. *.The option for setting size of text, apps and items on display is new and seems one can now also control number of tiles on the display by using this option. *.Developer options have added “Web Management” and “Error reporting” *.Zstorage is gone (Seen on Build  10536.1004) Apart from the above mentioned changes, the build seems is very stable and has bugs like Lock Screen delay completely fixed.
