Lumia 940 shows up at GFXBench with Snapdragon 808 processor. Confirmed specifications.

Image
Lumia 940 has started showing up in more places after a display  frame leak yesterday. We received a tip from one of our regular tipsters last night about a Hexa-Core Lumia  with product code RM-1106 appearing on GFXBench. We also tried to be in touch with our regular sources about the device in question and it seems that we are having a look at Lumia 940, that we have earlier  posted about. The GFXBench and our sources confirm following specs for Lumia 940. Display: 2560×1440 resolution, 5.2-inch.(Benchmark lists its a 1920×1080, but we can confirm that it is a crop and not the actual resolution that shows up in GFXBench Processor: Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 with Adreno 430   GPU. This is bit surprising as Hexa-core Snapdragon 808 comes with Adreno 418 or Qualcomm will make it possible in future? Memory: 3 GB RAM(Again don’t get confused by the 1.5 GB in benchmark as it refers to free memory at the time of benchmark test) FFC: 5 MP Rear Camera: 20 MP Pureview (Again, the resolution of

Detailed restrictions on 512MB Windows 10 Phones leak

Image
Microsoft has already announced that Windows 10 Mobile will come to all Windows Phone 8 devices that are available in the market right now. But what about the performance on the low-end devices like Lumia 520? A leaked internal document has revealed the scenarios in which 512MB Windows 10 phones will not have the same experience as the other 1GB devices. Some cases are acceptable like the HDR imaging resolutions. But some cases like VoIP and multi-tasking will result in poor experience for the users. One good news is that Microsoft has no plans to sell a 512MB device in the future, as you all know even the Lumia 430 now comes with 1GB RAM. Only the old WP8 devices will face these limitations. So, try to avoid buying a new 512MB Windows Phone 8 device now. Source: WMPU

Windows 10 for Phones not to arrive before October

Image
I think we all suspected this, and now Verge Senior Editor Tom Warren has confirmed that Windows 10 for Phones will not be hitting handsets before summer is over, which is generally accepted to be the 22nd September. Microsoft of course has a tradition of releasing phones running their latest operating system in October, though there is no guarantee as to when the OS will actually drop. What does appear certain however is that updates to existing handsets will run all the way into 2016, making the best way to get Windows 10 for Phones and compelling features tied to new hardware such as Continuum buying a new handset. Unfortunately this opens up the risk of Osbouring WP8.1 handsets again, with buyers reluctant to spend on existing handsets when better devices are coming “soon.” Did our readers expect this news or are you disappointed?
