Windows 10 for Phones not to arrive before October
I think we all suspected this, and now Verge Senior Editor Tom Warren has confirmed that Windows 10 for Phones will not be hitting handsets before summer is over, which is generally accepted to be the 22nd September.
Microsoft of course has a tradition of releasing phones running their latest operating system in October, though there is no guarantee as to when the OS will actually drop. What does appear certain however is that updates to existing handsets will run all the way into 2016, making the best way to get Windows 10 for Phones and compelling features tied to new hardware such as Continuum buying a new handset.
Unfortunately this opens up the risk of Osbouring WP8.1 handsets again, with buyers reluctant to spend on existing handsets when better devices are coming “soon.”
