Update: Turns out these firmware updates aren’t necessarily “new”, this is part of a firmware update rollout that was initiated late last year. Apologies. Still, you may not have picked it up just yet so give it a check just in case. If you’re someone who is still rocking an older Lumia handset, we may have some good news for you. It appears select handsets are now seeing new firmware available for installing via the Windows Device Recovery Tool. The  Facebook Beta  app for Windows 10 Mobile is receiving a minor update, but there doesn't appear to be anything new tagging along. Since there is no detailed changelog available, it's likely that the update, which brings the app's version number to 10.2.102.0, simply contains bug fixes and performance improvements. Meanwhile, Microsoft has pushed out a couple of updates to the PowerPoint and Excel mobile apps as well. For Excel Mobile, the update moves things up to version 17.6741.50142.0, while PowerPoint Mobile bumps up to version 17.6741.42592.0. After a few months of promises following nearly universal complaints, Microsoft released massive firmware updates for their popular and well-reviewed Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book machines. The updates are intended to resolve a number of issues primarily revolving around the machines’ ability to enter the proper sleep state along with issues relating to the Intel HD display drivers. My own Surface Pro 4 suffered from a number of the problems that the update is supposed to fix. Here’s a quick list of the main issues I was experiencing, and the results after applying the updates. Today, we are releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 14267 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. While we have been releasing preview builds for PC from our development branch for a while now, this is our first new preview build for Windows 10 Mobile from our Development Branch this year.  Microsoft has yet again started teasing about wider Lumia Denim update roll-out this month on Lumia Conversations blog. As per the blog,  A wider rollout of Lumia Denim to all Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to begin this month following partner testing and approvals.  But it seems Lumia 930 devices in Middle East markets like Oman, Qatar, UAE and more are already receiving Lumia Denim. Earlier Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 620, Lumia 720 and Lumia 1320 were marked as receiving the Lumia Denim update in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and other markets.  In Europe too, Lumia 930 is marked to receive Lumia Denim in more markets now. Lumia 930 in Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Norway, Denmark etc were earlier marked as getting Lumia Denim.  Along with the Lumia 830 and 730/5, Microsoft also announced the Lumia Denim firmware for its Nokia Lumia devices. It packs lots of – mostly camera related – features, like a much faster Lumia camera app or the “Hey, Cortana” feature. That was on IFA in Berlin – in September 2014!  Today is January 15th, 2015. Lumia denim began to roll out a few weeks ago and runs nicely on the devices that already received the update. Here in Germany I have the update on my Lumia 620 and it runs great.    Microsoft will reportedly reveal Windows 10 for Phones (or Windows Mobile 10) at its January 21st event. As you may know, to get access to Windows 10 Technical Preview, users needed to be registered as an ‘insider’.  The much awaited VLC Player app for Windows Phone was released in Windows Phone Store few days back. This app today got updated to v1.0.2 and it is a minor release with no new features. The developers behind this app also announced that v1.0.3 is coming soon with lots of bug fixes.  VLC media player is a portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player and streaming media server written by the VideoLAN project.  VLC media player supports most audio and video compression formats, files and streaming protocols.  Thomas Nigro has tweeted that the current closed beta app will receive no further updates, so it is recommended that even beta users switch to this branch of the development.  Download it  here  from Windows Phone Store for free.  source :- wmpoweruser ‪#‎SN‬
