RIP MixRadio

Image
MixRadio is initially known as Nokia Music Store, Nokia Music and Ovi Music. Everything was gone fine for MixRadio team until Microsoft acquisition of Nokia which includes devices and services division of it, On that deal Nokia also included MixRadio as well but Microsoft isn’t really interested to buy a music service as they have their own Groove music (previously known as Xbox music). In the meantime Microsoft wanted to close the deal, and Microsoft closed the deal with Nokia for $7.2bn. Microsoft then sold MixRadio to Line Corporation which is mostly known for their Line Messenger. Line Corporation was initially happy about the deal and it was, but they made a mistake by making it as an exclusivity with Samsung. And then while opening MixRadio app, we got a note saying “Farewell from MixRadio, We are sad to say that MixRadio is closing soon”. Now it's No more. I loved MixRadio offline playback feature and I barely used any other music player previously for my love of music. I ...

Possible new xbox one controllers leaked on swedish website

Two new first-party Xbox One controllers could be on the way according to a listing on MediaMarkt, a Swedish multimedia product site. There is no pricing or release date information on the listings but some Reddit users appear to have discovered some images of the new controllers as well as their names; Copper Shadow and Dusk Shadow. Both appear to be very similar to last year’s Lunar White Xbox One controller which featured a textured back and the same four color dots inside the XYAB buttons. An official announcement hasn’t been made yet and these could be fan-edited images of controllers that will never be made but it’s also extremely likely that Microsoft wouldn’t stop with newly colored Xbox One controllers after making the Lunar White one, especially when considering how popular variant controllers and consoles are with fans. Earlier today, a new Xbox One controller inspired by Marvels’ Captain America: Civil War movie was revealed on GameStop...

Microsoft is moving beyond windows

Windows is Microsoft’s most important product. The operating system, created three decades ago, has become synonymous with computing. While other products, like Mac OS X, are available, Windows has always enjoyed an almost complete dominance of the PC market. This was fine for Microsoft in the old days when PCs were all that mattered, but it’s a different kind of computing that matters now: smartphones. Pocket-sized computers are owned by billions of people worldwide and are, for some companies like Apple, Google and Samsung, big money spinners. The PC market remains bigs, but it is heavily diminished from its heyday in the mid-2000s. Gartner, a research firm, estimates that around 246 million desktop PCs will be shipped in 2016, down from over 310 million just a few years ago. In contrast, around 1.4 billion smartphones will be sold worldwide. The shift has been significant, bringing Apple, which languished during the PC era, and Google to the forefront. The iPhone, orig...

Microsoft releases new Evernote to OneNote migration tool

Image
OneNote is becoming one of the most popular note-taking apps available, adding new features on a regular basis, and joining Microsoft’s cross-platform play with a vengeance, with apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. It’s also free to use, and comes bundled with Office and Office 365, so it’s also one of the most cost effective note taking apps, too. So much so that there’s been enough interest in an Evernote to OneNote migration tool that the folks at OneNote have just released a OneNote Importer tool. Initially, it’s just for Windows, but a Mac version is on the way.  You can take a look at how it works in this video: There are a couple of pre-requisites, including the Windows requirement: A PC with Windows 7 or later. Once your Evernote notes are imported, they’ll sync across all your devices—Mac, iOS and Android included. To speed up the migration process, it is recommended you have Evernote for Windows installed. Sign in to Evernote for Windows with your Evernote acc...

Microsoft Edge may gain extension support in the next preview build of Windows 10

Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 is currently an imperfect experience for powerusers and those who rely on more than the basics. Its fast and looks spartan,  but it is missing common features like extensions and has a rude habit of eating up your RAM. At least one of those issues might be resolved soon if there is any truth to this new report. Thurrott’s Brad Sams and WinBeta’s Zac Bowden report that according to internal sources, Microsoft has rolled up the Edge extensions feature into the internal RS1 builds, which points towards an imminent release. It is expected that the next bold of Redstone will in fact bring in extensions, a feature that has been missing from Microsoft’s Edge browser since it was launched. While Microsoft’s previous flagship browser – Internet Explorer did not have extensions,, it had add-ons, tracking protection lists and other features which worked together to make browsing the internet a better experience. This is not the fir...

WhatsApp Beta updated with document Share Feature

Image
Whatsapp has just pushed out an updated to their closed beta application, taking it to version 2.12.306. The update is pretty significant and brings a number of improvements. Firstly, the app is now able to send video of arbitrary size due to a built-in video compressor. 300 MB files are sent easily. Secondly the app is now able to receive documents from others, and documents can be sent via the OS share function (though not directly attached from the app). Lastly the app is now missing the page where one would purchase a yearly subscription, after Whatsapp dropped this fee. The WhatsApp beta program is closed, so not available to the general public, though it does not usually take too many weeks for features to come to the main version of the app. For now you can download the public version of the Whatsapp  from the Windows Store.

Instagram Universal app for Windows 10 is in private beta..?

Image
A video posted to YouTube reveals what appears to be the long awaited Universal Instagram app for Windows 10. The video comes from  WindowsblogItalia  and if your Italian is not up to speed, don't fret. Just turn off the sound and enjoy the video. And enjoy it you will if you already own a Windows 10 Mobile phone, or a Windows Phone 8.1 powered handset that will eventually be updated. And since it is a Universal app, those with a PC or a tablet running on Windows 10 should be smiling too.                       The Instagram app for Windows 10 Mobile is said to be in a closed beta test, and appears to be full of features. That is because it is reportedly a port of the iOS Instagram app. Unfortunately, that raises the probability of some bugs developing, and there does seem to be an issue with the photo gallery.               ...
